This one's been moving up on heavy volume. More than doubled in the last 2 weeks on 20-30X avg volume. If the current price holds it will close at a 52 wk high. Sealed a deal with ATI for set top box controllers on April 7. (see press release below) Some of their customers include Cisco, Ascend, Northern Telecom and IBM.

ATI Chooses V3 Semiconductor for Advanced Set-top Box

SANTA CLARA, California & TORONTO, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- April 7, 1999--V3 Semiconductor (NASDAQ: VVVI - news) announced today that ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE: ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT) has chosen the V320USC-75LP from V3 for ATI's new Set-top Wonder(tm) II reference design.

The V320USC-75LP is a PCI system controller chip that directly supports 32/64 bit RISC processors (MIPS and SuperH). It has 640 Bytes of on-chip FIFO memory, 2 scatter/gather DMA engines, PCI Bus Power management Interface Specification Version 1.0, (E)SDRAM Controller with Enhanced SDRAM support, 3.3V operation, and 5V tolerant inputs. With these features, the V320USC is ideally suited to PCI applications such as Microsoft Windows CE, telecom, industrial control and networking.

The Set-top-Wonder II is a complete set-top box design for consumer electronics OEMs, including MIPS CPU, memory, graphics, modem, audio, and I/O. It is an ideal platform for OEMs designing a variety of consumer electronics devices including cable, satellite, and terrestrial set-top boxes, digital VCRs, and other devices requiring a high degree of interactivity or graphics/video performance.
