At long last, GoodNoise has changed its name to emusic.com and, as of today, June 2, 1999, will be listed on the NASDAQ (symbol: EMUS). For those unfamiliar with the company, EMUS is a pioneer in the online distribution of downloadable digital music, and its chairman wrote the book on music licensing. The power and momentum of this cutting-edge industry is reflected in today's purchase by AOL of two weaker internet music companies for a total of $400 million in stock. The ideal business model for downloadable music remains to be seen; however, it appears that EMUS is well-situated to capitalize on this rapidly developing market. | ||||||||||||||
