LEXON Technologies and The National Atlas of the United States to Transform The National Atlas of the United States of America into Electronic Format
Multiple Formats will Include Internet, CD-ROM, DVD, Electronic and Multimedia
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- LEXON Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LXTI - news) announces a historic partnership with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and over 20 other Federal agencies to serve as the private company responsible for the design, development and marketing of products associated with the National Atlas of the United States of America(TM) (National Atlas). For assistance in developing this wide-ranging, high-profile project, the Federal government has turned to one of the leaders in content and data information. This agreement will define and establish a unique direction for LEXON Technologies and its subsidiaries.

''Our intimate involvement with the National Atlas of the United States(TM) project as a commercial developer of data content solutions is unequaled in the history of this company and is really nothing short of an information revolution,'' said Steven J. Peskaitis, president and chief executive officer of LEXON Technologies. ''We will be developing a broad range of new products, new services and new solutions throughout the course of working on the National Atlas project for a wide array of data content categories, leading to the development of new industry products and information sectors.''

The National Atlas project involves an entire spectrum of items that were set forth in a 1996 act of Congress, declaring that a new National Atlas of the Untied States(TM) be recreated to update the original hard copy atlas published once in 1970. Due to its experience in creating broad market products, LEXON Technologies was selected to head up product design and distribution as part of this massive undertaking.

Under the provisions of the partnership, LEXON Technologies, and its subsidiary, Chicago Map Corporation, will devote significant resources to create many ''worthwhile applications and information resources for the American people,'' according to the Project's Statement of Work. This includes, but is not limited to, the marketing, promotion and distribution of varius National Atlas products and services, such as electronic data libraries, commercial applications, broadcast provisions and accessible public resources.

Another key component of the partnership is the completion of significant market research effort during the 1999 calendar year. For this project, which has already begun, LEXON technologies has engaged the services of leading research firms to ascertain the interests and needs of the institutional, governmental, business and public consumers of the National Atlas. This benchmark research will determine both current and future markets for products related to the National Atlas of the United States(TM).

Another significant advance over the previous print-only edition of the National Atlas is the creation of this information in a standardized electronic format. This will allow the distribution of data across various mediums, including the Internet, CD-ROM, DVD, electronic, multimedia, and other interactive technologies used for data acquisition and dissemination. LEXON Technologies will be at the forefront of creating and distributing the new National Atlas in these various formats.

The National Atlas of the Untied States(TM) project may result in the largest effort ever to assemble and integrate geographic information at the Federal level. It is expected that the presentation of this information is as significant as the actual data collection itself.

Headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois, LEXON Technologies, Inc., a leading Internet-based provider of innovative geo-referenceable content and data, offers specific content solutions to institutional, governmental, corporate and public consumers through advanced software applications. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Chicago Map Corporation, the company creates geographic digital map technology, including digital data integration and referencing, GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation systems, and mobile asset monitoring/tracking for a variety of markets. The company has offices in Boston, Massachusetts and Dallas, Texas.

Visit the company's web site at lexontech.com for additional information on its services.

The press release includes forward-looking statements within the meaning of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933 and Section 21E of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Because these statements apply to future events, they are subject to risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially, including the company's limited operating history and potential inability to integrate acquired businesses, need for additional financing, variable economic conditions and consumer tastes, regulatory risks and restrictions imposed by existing debt and future payment obligations. Important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially are described in the company's information filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
