Greetings and Salutations! It is inevitable that online gambling will generate several billion dollars of revenue for what now are very tiny companies within the next couple of years. One estimate I've seen says that this sector will blossom into a 10 billion dollar industry by 2002. We've witnessed the rise and fall of Starnet Communciations -- a company that generated excitement in thousands of investors. However, Starnet's past in adult entertainment appears to have caught up with it, and it's future is now debateable. What might make this the stock to pick in this sector? Well, here's a short list, prepared by myself and Roofman: (1) Australia -- Merril Lynch has already issued a report discussing the explosive potential of i-gaming companies, particularly in Australia. With AIEE opening an office in Sydney, they are showing me that they are in tune with the importance of Australia. Any licensing that emerges from Australia will quickly catapult AIEE to the Crypto/SNMM level. Lawson also has a great background. Is AIEE moving its corporate office from Boca to Sydney? I think they should -- for several obvious reasons -- but I'm not sure. I talked to Ira Miller today, and he is not sure, but will talk to Iamunno when Iamunno returns from his trip. (2) Potential Alliances -- speaking of Iamunno, if he's soon to return from a trip, where's he been? He is out there hunting for a partner, a larger, credible company to take an equity position in AIEE. Who could it be, I asked IRA. He of course didn't say, but you should have heard his reaction when I said Anchor Gaming (NASDAQ: SLOT)!!! He made it clear that Iamunno IS talking to several companies, and without coming out and saying it, SLOT is definitely on the short list. (3) Name-change/momentum/licensees: Look at what AIEE is doing -- they are being extremely agressive. They are quickly developing a great stable of licensees. 2 Native American tribes have signed on -- that is a promising trend, because there must be a 100 in the U.S. that operate gambling in some form or another. Ira Miller also confirmed that the company is definitely going to change the name of AIEE to Online Gaming Systems Australia, Ltd. I've already checked, and OGSA is available for the company to take. The name better reflects AIEE's focus -- gaming software and focusing on Australia/Asia-Pacific market. These are the little things that get people excited and get the stock noticed by new investors. (4)In May, AIEE entered into a marketing alliance with John Huxley Casino Equipment, Ltd. Huxley Is The "Largest Gaming Product Manufacturer And Distributor In The World With Over 3000 Casino Customers In Its Client Database". Huxley has exclusive distribution rights in England and Europe, non-exclusive for all other regions with the exception of Australia and the United States, for all Atlantic product lines. This alliance, IMHO, was a MAJOR coup for AIEE. Not only is Huxley in a position to forge MAJOR alliances between AIEE and European casinos, but the ability to get this done speaks volumes with respect to management's ability to play with the big boys. (5) David Longhurst, V.P. of Marketing and Sales. Mr. Longhurst "has more than thirty years Global experience in the casino industry. He has opened and operated, among others, well-known casinos such as Conrad Jupiters, Gold Coast, Australia; Conrad Casino, Istanbul, Turkey; and Conrad Resort and Casino, Punta del Este, Uruguay while working for Hilton U.S.A. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Conrad Hotels; and the renowned Casino de la Mamounia, Marrakech, Morocco while working for Royale Resorts International". (6) July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlantic International Entertainment, Ltd., (OTC Bulletin Board: AIEE) (AIE) announced today that the Board of Directors has appointed South African-based John Copelyn as the Company Chairman. "Prior to becoming CEO of HCI, Copelyn was General Secretary of S.A. Clothing and Textile Workers Union and its predecessors from 1974-1994. In 1980 he was admitted in South Africa as an Attorney. In 1994 Copelyn was an ANC member of Parliament elected in the first democratic parliament. Currently Copelyn is Chief Executive Officer of the SACTWU Investment Group. This is the investment vehicle of the union members providing for various welfare and educational benefits for members of the union and their families. It currently has assets in excess of R1 billion and is the largest shareholder of Hosken Consolidated Investments (the investment arm of the MineWorkers Union & SACTWU). Mr. Copelyn sits on the Board of various companies, including Chairman of Mettle Bank, listed on the J.S.E.; Chairman of Unibank, listed on J.S.E.; Director of Softline, J.S.E. listed; Director of Business Solutions, as well as directorships of various media companies including E.tv, the first private commercial free TV company in South Africa, three radio stations, Radio Highveld, YFm & CapeTalk. His gaming company directorships include: S.A. Video Gaming Corporation, Global Payment S.A and Atlantic". (7) The AIE closed loop VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows remote PC game play within a designated geographic area. The system, which can include both gaming and wagering products, will be offered to state governments and other select operators in regulated environments. The VPN product will be structured so that transactions would be limited to players within a designated geographic area (e.g., residents of a state) and in accordance with all necessary gaming regulations. In particular, the systems will be set up to effectively combat underage and problem gaming. Us former SNMMers are accustomed to seeing $10MM revenues, 89% gross profit margins and 300%+ growth. But AIEE is just getting started. We won't see those kind of numbers from this company this year. What we are seeing here, however, is extremely intelligent management who has the forsight and the ability to attract extraordinary people and to forge alliances with some of the best players in the industry. IMHO, AIEE is destined to become our next shining "star". With those things going for it, anyone who wants to pick a winner in this sector should take a hard look at AIEE/OGSA. | ||||||||||||
