Some call SEC a paper tiger. They contend that SEC let itself be blackmailed by the wishes of the Wall Street, who held the economy hostage and right now yelling at Feds, Pols and SEC to back-off. I am not sure if SEC has any influence left on regulating the markets or not. But, it is among the only last place of hope for many small investors who are getting suckered by such schemes as overtly shameless games played by the analysts, companies' distorting truth and outright lying.
I loved a the following quote from SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt's 10/18/99 Speech:
" . . if analysts continue to view the world through rose-colored lenses, they doom themselves to irrelevance. As more and more investors, even retail investors, recognize sell-side analysis as a marketing tool, they will increasingly turn elsewhere for reliable research."
Only thing certain about SEC is that it is terribly understaffed and can not possibly investigate zillion potential fradulent dealing out there. The purpose of this thread is to link enough leads for SEC to look in to allegations of fraud by any interested parties.
I will kick-off the thread in my first response with a lead to indicate potential attempt to manipulate stock price by a major technology company.
PLEASE KEEP THE THREAD ACTIVITY TO MATERIAL WITH SOME DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE - WHETHER IT IS PUBLISHED OR YOUR OWN RESEARCH. NO NONSENSE PLEASE! I INTEND FOR THIS THREAD TO BE CLEAN AND ACTUALLY HELP SEC.
