Open TV is controlled by MIH ltd (MIHL). Recently announced that News Corp, Liberty, AOL, Sun, GI were all investors. OpenTV appears to be a video based operating system. MIH has deals with the leading pay tv services - Sky, Canal. Could this be the makings of video portal through which consumers access the Web and consumer broadband programming? Also of interest is recent merger of TVG (controlled by Murdoch and Malone) with Gemstar, the TV listing guide. Add it all up and it loks like strategy to compete against the Yahoos/Microsofts of the Internet world.

MIHL went public earlier in the year and has since doubled in price. Most of the appreciation has come with the announcement of the OpenTV ipo.
