Iwelcome any views on Smartforce{SMTF},formerly CBT Systems.
SMTF is the first public company to devote itself to provision of e-learning services.SMTF intends to redefine the learning industry through a first of kind fully integrated net based e-learning service.
Being net based this service has the advantages of;accessibility,low cost,easy and fast updating ,and the ability to customize services to meet the requirements of users.
SMTF has announced it's largest ever contract for e-learning services.It has been approved by MSFT to provide online continuing education to MCP's.It has formed an alliance with NTT to provide e-learning to the Japanese.SMTF has a good level of R&D spend and is working quickly to develop enhancements to improve the experience for e-learners.
SMTF is the former CBT Systems the market leader in computer based training.IMO there is an exciting future for this stock as they are the first company to focus on the e-learning services market and are investing significant funds for this purpose.Bill Mc Cabe [Chairman]exploited the computer based learning market successfully and IMO he can do the same again and exploit the internet based learning market.If he does the potential market is huge ,possibly reaching 320m people by 2002.
On the downside the market frowned on the company's abrupt change of direction when it announced it was to change and redirect it's focus from computr based to internet based training services .SMTF may have to deliver more news and contracts to impress Wall Sreet.
