While it has become increasingly difficult to get allocations of IPOs in the premarket, I have noticed a clear pattern of "similar" companies enjoying a nice rise when an IPO takes off on the opening. For example, if you bought Corel a day or two before the VA Linux IPO you enjoyed a nice 15-20 rise without trying to grab the tiger by the tail and chasing a 300 dollar overvalued stock.

I would like to discuss upcoming IPOs and "comps" that we can buy in advance of public offering that could enjoy a parallel pop. For example, I bought Chemdex today in anticipation of Freemarkets.com IPO tomorrow. I would like to be more sophisticated about this and buy 2 weeks in advance so there will be some homework involved in this. I welcome contributions from all who are interested.
