On November 15, 1999, the news was:
ScanSource Ranked Among Nation's Best 200 Small Companies by Forbes. Value-added Distributor One of Two South Carolina Companies to Make the List
GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 1999-- ScanSource, Inc., (NASDAQ: SCSC) a North American value-added distributor of specialty technology products to the reseller market, was recently named one of the nation's "200 Best Small Companies" by Forbes magazine.
Forbes annually ranks the nation's small companies based on profitability, growth rate, sales, net income, stock market value and other factors. ScanSource finished 112th on the Forbes list, the highest ranking for any company based in South Carolina. The distributor specializes in the sale of automatic identification (Auto ID), point-of-sale (POS), business telephone and computer telephony equipment.
ScanSource has enjoyed a rapid rise since its inception in December 1992, posting a compound annual sales growth rate of 72 percent over the past five years. In fiscal year 1999, sales increased a robust 63% at record revenues of $298 million, and operating income increased 58% to $12.2 million, up from $7.7 million. Yet, today, I find that its not yet a subject for discussion on Silicon Investor.
I find its fundamentals very attractive. Anyone else have any comments about Forbes' new member?
  Joe
