The movie industry is undergoing conversion from a film based industry to one based on bits and bytes. Movie theaters need to convert to digital delivery means. The whole process involves:

1) Collecting content at a central site.
2) Transmission of content to theatres.
3) Storage and management of content at theaters.
4) Digital projection and management of rights.

The industry is very young and confused by differing views of what it all means. This subject is a place to collection items possibly helpful in better understanding the state of the industry. Industry wanabees include from Texas Industries (Projectors), Hughes Satellites (Transmission), Qualcomm (Transmission), Kodak, Technicolor and many other minor players which, of course, includes Microsoft.

Standards are being driven by studios ... a work-in-progress but progressing.
