Regular quote symbol was SIMG, now SIMGE.

Silicon Image caught my attention some months ago. They are focused on video display and data transfer technologies and they appear to be having good results getting their technologies adopted by board makers, etc..

It seems they have two particular strengths:

- the chips required for HDTV type displays, and

- what I understand to be proprietory technology making high speed Serial ASA communication between computers and hardware devices possible.

Just last week they announced that they are withholding filing their 10Q until an audit committee of the Board completes a review of their accounting for licencee income. This income is less than 15% of current revenue and this is a subject that is prone to complications:

... up front fees
... up front costs
... spread over which time frames
... some quarters licensees make a lot of licensed product and other quarters not so much, etc..
... accrue as products are made?
... take in income when checks arrive?

Because of the delayed 10Q, the stock is now quoted under SIMGE. After an intial substantial drop from a recent high around $9, the stock has moved up from the low $6 area to the mid $7 area.

I have spoken to the company and they seem unconcerned beyond the fact that this snafu is an unpleasant bump in the road to success.

I would appreciate any comments, knowledge, inputs or wisdom others might care to add.
