Miramar Mining Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, is engaged in the mining and processing of gold ore and the exploration for, and the acquisition and development of, gold bearing mineral properties. The Company's business is focused in northern Canada in the Northwest Territories and the territory of Nunavut. Through Miramar Con Mine Ltd., the Company owns and operates the Con Mine, an underground gold mine located near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. Through Miramar Giant Mine Ltd., it owns and operates the Giant Mine located near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, and near the Con Mine. Through its Yellowknife operations (the Con and Giant Mines), the Company produced and shipped approximately 115,134 ounces of gold in 2002. Through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Miramar Hope Bay Ltd. and Miramar HBG Ltd., the Company owns 100% of the Hope Bay Project, a gold exploration project located in Nunavut, Canada.
