SandRidge Energy, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, operates as an independent natural gas and oil company in the United States. The company engages in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas properties. Its Exploration and Production segment explores for, develops, and produces natural gas and oil reserves with focus on the Permian Basin, Mid-Continent, and the West Texas Overthrust (WTO). This segment also operates leasehold positions in the Gulf Coast and Gulf of Mexico. The company?s Drilling and Oil Field Services segment offers drilling services for other oil and natural gas companies, primarily in the west Texas region. This segment?s oil field services include providing drilling rigs, pulling units, trucking, rental tools, location and road construction, and roustabout services. Its Midstream Gas Services segment provides gathering, compression, processing, and treating services of natural gas in west Texas. The company also captures and transports CO2 to the Permian Basin for use in tertiary oil recovery operations. As of December 31, 2010, its estimated proved reserves were 545.9 million barrels of oil equivalent, of which approximately 46% were oil. The company also had interests in 5,323 gross producing wells, as well as in approximately 1,982,000 gross acres under lease. In addition, it had 16 rigs drilling in the Permian Basin, 7 rigs drilling in the Mississippian formation, and 1 rig drilling in the WTO. The company is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
