Recently I got out of this security (SAVA) at a loss. When I first got in it was, of course, risky but Schwab had them rated as an A. Recently amongst a lot of fluttery news, Schwab now has it rated C and the price has dropped significantly. The types of trials they are doing are 'open label'. Their website used to state this just a few weeks ago, but yesterday when I went back to the site all the open label mentions had been taken away. I didn't know what an open label trial meant when I first bought the stock and after the stock started going whacko on a daily basis i decided to look it up. Basically the trials consisted of allowing the physician and patient to know whether they were receiving the placebo or the drug Simufilam Had I done my due diligence up front, I would have known this and probably would have avoided investing in it. Recently there was a letter 'citizens petition' filed yet i was unable to find it on the internet. So I wrote an email to a lawyer who sent me the website link of the letter. Here is the title: Requests that the FDA halt the current clinical studies of Simufilam PTI-125 sponsored by Cassava Sciences NCT04388254 and NCT04994483, pending audits of 1 the publications relied on by Cassava in support of its scientific claims concerning Simufilam; 2 the IND application for Simulifam’s use in Alzheimer’s Disease; and 3 all clinical biomarker studies of Simufilam in Alzheimer’s Disease. The actual letter and supporting documents can be found here The CEO is Remi Barbier and was involved in a prior activity with a company he ran Pain Therapeutics where it was settled out of court. I do not know the exact outcome only that now he has a new company called Cassava Sciences and more people appear to have lost money and possibly loved ones who took part in the open label trials (chances are though they would have died anyways). Luckily for us, webarchive.org has captured several snapshots of Cassava Sciences over the years There are now a number of law firms engaged in attempts to bring lawsuits against Cassava Sciences.
