The original title of this Board was "Sticking One’s Neck Out". I chose that name because I thought that maybe, in these times that we live in, there was a need to interrogate long held beliefs and convictions, especially those based on what we were taught in our formative years compared to what we actually experienced in our later and more "independent thinking" years.
I suspect that many of those beliefs and convictions formed part of our education and upbringing in our early years, at a time when we were youthfully vulnerable and we accepted them without much question.
Now that we are older and possibly more independent in our thinking, we may be a bit more circumspect in what we accept as our core principles and beliefs.
What prompted me to start the original Board came about as a result of a message I posted elsewhere on S.I., incorporating this Board’s original title.
A day or so later someone living, literally, on the opposite side of the world to myself, stated that she had been searching for "something" and happened to find "it" in what I had written ....

It got me thinking that maybe others will have empathy with what I post, and could possibly also add to, or expand on, it.
Irrespective, I will be writing it as I see it.
Needless to say, there could be those that disagree and have their own viewpoint. That's why I've included the phrase "Your Opinion" in this board's title.
So, by all means, have your say, express your opinion, but kindly be respectful and considerate to other contributors as the converse will not be tolerated and "appropriate action" will be taken ..... |
