A forum created for the best of the best on SI:
* Trading and Investment Ideas * Macro Trends and Micro Analysis * Sports and Jokes
Let’s elaborate…
Trading and Investment Ideas
I do not mean day-trading ideas, there’s plenty of other message boards for that. Swing trading ideas with a time horizon of at least 2 weeks will be the benchmark. To the extent that market ideas OUTSIDE OF EQUITIES can be offered, you will be a highly valued member of the board: Currencies, commodities, corporate bonds, hedge fund strategies/money managers, are a few asset classes to name a few that enhance the discussion.
Macro and Micro Analysis
The macro analysis is pretty self-explanatory. The micro analysis includes individual investment ideas you may be considering and are appropriate for the board to discuss and vet: actual commercial/residential real estate propositions you are considering, private equity ideas, to name a few things.
Sports and Jokes
Let’s try to limit the discussion on this topic to one per person per week, but to not include it would be a travesty. We all invest, it is both rewarding and stressful, but it’s important to have other things occupy the mind. Wall Street is no different than Corporate America in many ways. Fine, the pay and stability is different, but in the end it’s about being personable. There are thousands of qualified “quant jocks” who can do the analysis, but to really be successful you have to be able to network…and to be a successful networker you have to be personable. Sports and Jokes are the easiest ways to get yourself into the next conversation for mega-success. Trust me, nobody wants to talk about <substitute your job sector > all day long.
Like everybody else, I want a civil board. But at the same time, I HATE ignorant, non-factual, baseless comments. I don’t give a sh!t if you agree or disagree with any contention. It takes two to make a market.
Mission Statement:
But if you want to talk about “conspiracies”, go somewhere else. If you get angry that the “market is wrong”, get the hell out of here. If you want to deride others who have made good investments, so long. Members of this elite club will give credit where credit is due, but be prepared to be respectfully “outed” if you’re wrong.
Hopefully within this framework, we can all make money. Let's see where this takes us. |
