Return to 3G Wireless: Coming Soon or Here Now?

IMT-2000 Third Generation Mobile Wireless Telephony (3G) ...

... is no longer "Coming Soon." It fully arrived and became commercially viable in H2 2004 and by the end of 2005 there were over 60 million 3G mobile wireless subscribers subscribers: 50 million 3GSM UMTS (WCDMA) and 24.4 million CDMA2000 1xEV-DO subscribers.

The objective of this board is discuss 3G, attempt to position 3G in the Technology Adoption Life Cycle (TALC), and monitor its displacement of 2G and 2.5G mobile wireless technologies.

The focus is on Global 3G (G3G) and the 3 CDMA based technologies, but discussion of EDGE and DECT is relevant as are discussions of 802.16 WiMax, QUALCOMM's F-OFDM, and other complementary or competitive broadband wireless technologies although there is a Silicon Investor board here dedicated to the discussion of "WiMAX & Qualcomm: OFDM Technologies for BWA" ...

Subject 55919

There are also several fine and informative company specific boards here on Silicon Investor. This forum is intended to be more general, but discussion of established or emerging players in the 3G arena is encouraged.
