Return to Green Bay Packers

The 2000 Green Bay Packer Season:

I know what everyone is saying and it sounds like cautious optimism to me. "Gotta wait for the pads. Gotta wait till it means something. Yeah, looks goodbut.what about the defensive line"

I have always felt in the past that it takes a new coaching staff about three full years to fully implement its system and get the guys that can operate with the most efficiency in that system. What I am about to suggest fully takes that in account and my prediction won't be known for several years, but this is what I believe is the course Ron Wolf, genius Ron Wolf, has laid before us.

There will be a Sherman Blvd in Green Bay.
Coach Sherman will win more super bowls than Mike Holmgren.
Coach Sherman will bring to Green Bay a love affair with the Packers like we have never seen in my days of watching the Pack. (yes, I was not a fan during the Lombardi years.I was much too young to even know back then.)

High praise? Yes. High expectations? Yes indeed.

Coach Sherman, from what I observed, has the methodology, the desire and the drive that will make this team a winner. The players appear to be in full acceptance of his system and his teachings. This will truly be known about half way through the season, not now, but the signs I see are encouraging. This is different than last year and we will see that on the field. Last year mid-way through the season you could see in the performance that something was amiss. This year I suspect we make a serious run at the NFC Central Crown and go deep into the playoffs. The schedule fits this scenario perfectly as we play many of the divisional games late in the year after the players have had a chance to really adapt and understand the system. The offence I don't think will have problems adapting, but it will take Bubba a few games to feel comfortable. It is the defense that won't start clicking till later on, but when they dolook out.

Yes, indeed, this feels like a winner.

This year, we go 10-6 and make the playoffs. We end up either first or second in the division.

I wish Grandpa was around to watch this new era with me. This is going to ROCK! As always, thanks for the tickets Grandpa and you are always on our mind.
