Hi Everyone,

Here's the post I sent to SI's Scott Lux. He's been quite helpful in the past.....

Hi Scott,

I'm not sure who to write to about this idea, but since we've corresponded in the past, your name came to mind first.

With over 12,000 posts now collected on the AIM thread,
Subject 12596
many are starting to realize that "newbies" have their work cut out for them to "catch up" with all that reading. Long time member, Jack Park, mentioned an idea of some form of index that would be a handy cross reference of contents at the site and also other SI threads that might relate.

I suggested that maybe some of the existing search engines might be able to do the task, but don't know. In any case, here's the relevant posts on this subject:

<EDIT>I noted that SI now has a "Silicon Investor University." Maybe we should publish the collected wisdoms of the AIM Users for the university!! Any thoughts?

My (very late 0.02 euros): posting the collected AIM wisdom is a great idea.
Cheers, Jack

Yes Jack, but who's going to determine what was wisdom and what was folley??
:-)
Good to see you around!
Best regards, Tom

The second to the last of the thread links is the one in which Jack refines his ideas the most. His opinion is shared by the group that SI is an incredibly valuable resource and is still maturing. His thought is to have SI (or someone) develop an engine specifically for SI's bulletin boards. Maybe this would be duplicating something that's already out there, maybe not. Many of SI's thread topics are now so deep and rich that it is a shame that we can't "mine" them in a better fashion for information.

If there's already a good way to do such mining, we'd love to know about it. If not, I'm sure Jack Park would be willing to fill SI in on his ideas. I don't know a lot about Jack's background, but do know he's done some programming. Maybe he could give you all a head start.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards, Tom"
