the notion that machine is the best method is not a valid argument, AFA FL is concerned. The system there is a far cry from that of NJ. Hindsight 20/20, should floridans, PBians in particular, be penalized for having such an antiquated system?
I think the US Supreme Court is likely to let the State Supreme Court rulings stand, whatever they may be, unless voter right is violated. From that standpoint, it will not be in Gov Bush's favor. More important, this is filled with ironies. The GOP is a party of state right, but Gov Bush & co seem to believe they have a better advantage of going to federal courts. Maybe you are right about the packed FL Supreme Court. However, the judges still have to work within the confine of the state laws.
The amusing thing is this: if the interpretation of the ballot is based on a stringent and uniform standard, there is no telling who has the advantage. Obviously, VP Gore has *nothing* to lose at this point, since he trails Gov Bush by a whopping 300 votes.
Personally, I truly don't care who is winning, but I simply do not buy Sec Baker's spin. |
