...the US's grandiose scheme to "democratize" (read "zionize") the Middle East will backfire. The "electric current" is not flowing from the US to Iraq and the Mideast but rather the other way round --from Iraq and Israel to the US!

At the end of the day, the so-called Greater Middle East will be as messy as ever while the US itself will be "Israelized" through its coupling with the Israeli "circuit board".... However, the US cannot and will not sustain the high-octane feedback from Israel into its own domestic fabric: Israel's positive feedback will push the US polity to its breaking point --and civil war.

Unlike the US administration, General De Gaulle perfectly understood the tricky hookup between a war-torn colony and its metropolitan patron:

Gen. De Gaulle could have easily overcome the FLN rebellion by throwing all of France's military might into the war --at the cost of French democracy....
