There were reports last summer that this was (so far) the warmest year on record, so it's not surprising that it has continued.

"Worldwide, the 10 warmest years since 1850 all occurred in the past 12 years."

Anyone expecting long-term "normal" or average winters is betting on the wrong horse IMHO.
