IN all the years I have been on S.I. I have only seen one person's mind changed.. and then only slightly and with regard to the war.
The situation here is more complicated than you might believe. First are those who oppose the war, but fear what baggage the Dems will bring with them. There are also those who consider the war a mistake, but fear what will come if we cut and run.
As far as Conservatives not seeing how our country is going bankrupt and how this war is effecting our debt.. I cannot grasp..
A great many do see it. They also consider that running will only encourage the enemy. This isn't Vietnam. They won't leave us alone if only we go home. This started long before 911 and will continue long after Iraq if we run. Running has been tried before. You got 911 for it.
The country had an economic time bomb long before Bush. Remember the debates about SS, the Baby Bust, and Generational Warfare?
Bush did add greatly to the problem with the Medicare Prescription bill. And he did it to win an election. OTOH, the AARP is behind it and is quite liberal. I don't know about you, but I will never join.

If you haven't seen a Republican do it, it's because you never read their posts on their threads. It's happened often enough. I've done it myself, saying no credible evidence exists tying Iraq to 911 AND, if you REALLY looked at it, the evidence of WMD in Iraq before the invasion was weak at best. And this is not the first time I've said it. I no longerhave advanced search and can't dig up those posts, but I know others who can and will.
