'USB Toshiba hard drives' ??? ...
<< I trust all my images on my computers to USB Toshiba hard drives with never a problem on the 4 that I own. >>
I'm a bit confused, Ron, with that statement above that you made earlier today but perhaps I am misinterpreting it or what you stated before on this board and again just recently. ...
Back in 2013 you told us : "The only drives that I trust my data to is Seagate. I had one Iomega drive die on me, a 1TB, I opened it up and it was a Toshiba hard drive in it. Another Iomega failed 500GB, I sent that back and they sent out a refurbished one. I use it, but stick to Seagate as they have never let me down. I have 4 Seagate external drives, two USB 2 and two USB 3."
Ten months ago [6/19/2016] you told us: "I have had really good luck with Seagate using them for years no problems. I have 5 Seagates. The drives that I had die on me in the last 10 years were IBM, Toshiba, WD, Maxtor (Internal and external). My current drive that I use for back up are Hitachi Touro and Seagate drives. ... Toshiba are crappy drives in my opinion and so are the WD Passport line."
Just Recently you advised that "I use 2 brands of hard drives Seagates and Touro. I would never use the same model as if there is a problem with that line you are putting yourself in a bad position in case they fail."
That of course jibes with what you have stated before (and now after) but not with the (4) 'USB Toshiba hard drives' you own which is what is confusing me. In addition you are somewhat mixing apples and oranges (i.e. mixing manufacturer brandmark and model brandmark). While you specify the model manufactured by Western Digital's HGST you don't specify the model names of your Seagates. I believe You have at least one GoFlex model (of the several USB GoFlex models that have existed over the years (both 2.5" and 3.5").
I myself have two identical AC powered 5 or 6 year old 3.5" 1.5TB USB 2.0 Seagate GoFlex desktop drives, although I am about to retire one for a larger capacity desktop from Western Digital. Just as my 2 'MyPassport Ultra's' are 2 different models because they are 2 different generations, the same will be the case with my WD 'My Book' desktops (i.e. 2 different generations).
