Don,

The real value of DRDRAM is not going to be obvious for a few more months. When we start seeing graphics designs with multiple DRDRAM ports, it will become apparent that there is a whole world of untapped possibility out there.

The wide datapath of SDRAM makes it very expensive to use more than one bus, forcing contention between the various resources which need access to memory. DRDRAM offers the option of using multiple busses and eliminating contention. This is a brand new concept which is not well understood yet.
