Agreed with your points except:
1> I am 60-40 on a raise. The hawks want their 25 back. Don't really feel like going into detail. I think you know.

2. I disagree strongly about AOL Europe. It is by far the weakest part of AOL. They are not leaders in Europe and they have been bumbling over there from the get-go(just the name AOL reeks of a lack of European understanding). Merrill warned about this last week.

AOL is a good buy if you think the high PE dump is over. It's not a question of whether AOL is solid or not. It is a question of whether the mkt can tolerate AOL this far ahead of itself. I am not convincd the mkt can tolerate these PEs for an industry that is growing at about double the rate of MSFT, yet 5x the PE.

TA, it's a judgment call. This is the most prolonged selling we have ever seen in AOL for several years. IMO, AOL doesn't charge back to 150. However, I'm a technical trader and a close above 120 on good volume may cause me to reconsider.

I'm back here again trying to shake up your assumptions about the AOL vs T/ATHM debate, or DSL vs. cable.

-The Compaq -DSL link is a major piece of news. We have instant broadband all over.
-ATT will take over 2-3 years

In reality DSL services and cable services are both in rapid buildout and both will take several years (probably even more than 2-3) before they are "complete". There are complex technical issues for both broadband methods.

-ATT cannot offer ADSL because they do not have the last mile.
This is also untrue. Anyone who can go jump through the right hoops and follow the right procedures can become a DSL isp. You may debate whether that is "fair", but it is true. Currently ATHM provides DSL service in cooperation with Northpoint as part of it's @work division.

Dont insist on making this an AOL vs. AT&T/ATHM competition, even though Case apparently does. AOL has the most popular content on the web. ATHM has *one* very good method for accessing the internet. AOL has nothing to fear as long as they continue to provide content that people want, including broadband content.

AOL may want to rest on its laurels as the primary access to the internet. If they fear losing that near monopoly to broadband they will be all the better off for it in the long run because they will need to resort to their primary strength. Content.
