like your darling AOL, AAPL has its cult following ... IMO most businesses will look at function and cost before fashion.

exactly--the article mentions aapl's high margins and how well they've done...and there's a full page ad for Gateway and the thing is gorgeous, btw there's no cord for the keyboard either it's wireless (if only I'd waited...here I am w/ my box and my big LCD screen--and the total cost was closer to 4k than 2k)

Design doesn't count...why buy a jaguar...I prefer a toyota?

At the end MD quoted as saying they're not moving in this direction. Stupid. High margins here. They'll get into this but too late.

I'm getting irritated!

A business can't let emotions override sound decision making.

It's too early for Dell to cater to the consumer segment that wants artsy looking PC's. Dell's big customers are not clamouring for cute systems and certainly wont pay the premiums.

In time, business PC's will migrate toward space saving designs
and consumers will want designer PC's... that much is obvious. The
other obvious observation is that demand in these segments is
ultra small right now. Apple has always catered to the artistic community so the Imac design was not a bad gamble.

What is the projected growth in designer PC volumes over the next 2
years? Also, how do the margins on the Imac compare with that of
the Dimension L?
