One more thing, because of the US president Rooseve realized the importance of the Chinese battle ground against Japan, he sent quite a number of airplanes and US pilots to help Chinese people (Flying Tigers), and also a lot of financial/military help (although too bad most of these financial/military helps were used by Jiang to fight civil war with Mao). And quite a number of them dead, and I solute for those brave US pilots, and thank them for helping Chinese people. They shall be remembered.

Yiwu,

Interesting link. That was rather profound that Yugoslavia
lost nearly as many people as Japan. The Serbs really did
fight 40 German divisions to a stalemate in Yugoslavia. I
am surprised they threw in the towel so easily. I though
that we would see a ground invasion by August. Funny that
we have turned the Serbs into the demons. In WWII, they
were about the only friend we had in the Balkans. Even
more interesting is the fact that Adolph Hitler gave Kosovo
to the Albanians as a reward for their nearly fanatical
support of the Axis powers. As a side note, the Bosnian
Muslims put together a Waffen SS division, and the Croatians
built a bunch of "Death Camps" which were so efficient in
their operations that Members of the SS were amazed at the
zeal Croatians had for stuffing Serbs, Gypsies, Jews, and
other riff-raff into the gas chambers. Funny how times
have changed.

>>and Hitler was fatally wounded ever since the Battle of Stalingrad, which also marked the strategic turning point of the WWII. <<

The real turning point was the following summer, in Kursk, 1943.

It's been said by some Germans that "after Stalingrad, we weren't sure we could still win. After Kursk, we knew we had lost."

Your other points about the Russian casualties are well-taken.

On the other hand, did you know that it came out in 1993 that the USSR was about to attack Germany in 1941, just before they were attacked themselves? It's very difficult for me to think of the Soviet leadership as "innocent" in that tragedy we call "WW2."
