jhild. Now that we have all of the relevant posts here on one page let us see if we can find where I ever said the document you are referring to was the product of the use of OCR technology. Nope, not there. You are again confused by your insistence on reading something that is not there and then saying your own perception is true. In truth you know as well as I do that the reference I made to OCR technology was in answer to a side question by wlcnyc in post # 38505. Anybody know what I am referring to? Maybe I should say, "That to which I am referring" for the purists. WR, Scottoo To: +Scottoo (38506 ) From: +Observer Sunday, Jun 20 1999 8:47PM ET Reply #38507 of 38524 The software is OCR (Optical Character Recognition). It would be most inappropriate to use it and not correct the errors you would normally get. Especially on a document of this import. So, I seriously doubt this documents validity. That is unless your intention is to create a fraudulent instrument to deceive people. I doubt PABN would do such shoddy work. Don't you? Observer To: +Observer (38507 ) From: +Scottoo Sunday, Jun 20 1999 9:05PM ET Reply #38513 of 38524 Hey, I'll agree with anyone who spells deceive correctly. Seriously, I agree with your observation. So many don't understand that first impressions stay--poor spelling and grammar. Poor language usage leaves an imprint on the mind;i.e., just as you have inferred. They are all there. Sounds like the work of a virulent high school dropout basher with a knowledge of computers Warm Regards, Scottoo To: +Observer (38507 ) From: +wlcnyc Sunday, Jun 20 1999 9:23PM ET Reply #38519 of 38524 "...is OCR (Optical Character Recognition)." Thanks...glad someone knew and understood what I was talking about - that is a rare occurrence for me. LOL And, yes, I agree that one should take responsibility when using OCR. I am still puzzled as to the reason for posting the document on the home page of Condorlee without explanation as to the purpose of such a posting...NOT that an explanation is required of ANY home page. It is just an enigma, to me, how it just "hangs" out there with no apparent reason other than to provide fodder for the .... I am also curious how it was "discovered" by those now "using" it as THE source. Did it show up on a search engine? Was someone notified of its existence? Is the proprietor of the page someone we know, perhaps by another name? Tis a puzzlement... Bill To: +wlcnyc (38519 ) From: +Observer Sunday, Jun 20 1999 9:27PM ET Reply #38520 of 38524 wlcnyc, it is an apparent fraud. It is also another charge to add to the growing list of charges against bashers of PABN. I would think this one on GEOCITIES is very serious. People go to jail for less than that. Observer To: +Observer (38520 ) From: +Scottoo Sunday, Jun 20 1999 9:43PM ET Reply #38521 of 38524 Obie, It perplexes me, why all this, and--why now?? Especially the thing on Geocities. It is obviously a fraud; the mispellings, dates, etc. One would fire the lawyers involved, if nothing else. Warm Regards, Scottoo To: +Observer (38507 ) From: +jhild Sunday, Jun 20 1999 10:59PM ET Reply #38522 of 38524 Emil, your theory about OCR's makes no sense. As you know OCR software converts images of text to text characters that can be used as text. Images of pages are what OCR software use as input, not what they create. The pages on that Geocities site are images of pages, not text. So please explain. Your theory, and the general desire to paint all of these pages as a fraud, is reminiscent of that hair brained theory that was used to try to discredit the early Belize Government warnings about PABN/PRWT last July - someone hacked the site? Please. This seems to me to be an Occam's Razor kind of situation. It looks to me like the simplest explanation is that PABN/PRWT filed this flawed Form D, thinking that no one would ever bother to read it. Rather than your sinister notion that someone would go to such lengths to fabricate misinformation in such excruciating detail, employing a vast conspiracy to do it. To: +jhild (38522 ) From: +Observer Sunday, Jun 20 1999 11:35PM ET Reply #38523 of 38524 jhild. Since no official word has come from PABN as yet, it is all speculation. I like my theory as much as you like the ones you post all over the place. At least I have sent an email to the company requesting clarification. I doubt you have done so because you are making your story up as you go along without bothering to check the only authoritative source for your speculations. Observer To: +Observer (38523 ) From: +jhild Sunday, Jun 20 1999 11:55PM ET Reply #38524 of 38524 So I take it then your theory about OCR's has no foundation. The idea that these typo's would come from faulty OCR software clearly makes no sense, so maybe you could explain why you bothered to suggest it? Was it just ignorance on your part or the need to distract?
