Please! I happen to attend our public school systems and I will thank you not to refer to them as a toilet. I will happily discuss the state of Russia today, the fine points of quantum mechanics, and various Latin grammatical constructions. And I can do this thanks to the public school system. It is generally recommended that one should have knowledge about which one speaks before criticizing. Please shut up if you don't have anything intelligent to say.

Realist, I just wanted to add my exasperation: it is obvious that if backlash were likely to affect the Presidential election, Bush would not have been thrashing Gore consistently for months, Dole somewhat less consistently. Gore might still win (it is doubtful), but not because of Starr...Also, you are correct that the basic ideas of economics are not grasped by most academics...And yes, sometimes it is fun!
