The people I know who killed themselves were rather self-centered, IMHO. Not to generalize to everyone else who killed themselves, please don't think I am that arrogant.

But they weren't really self-transcendent, in the way you are when you say, "the sunrise is worth it." Or the sunset, or the moonrise . . .

Or maybe they were just going through a bad phase. I still don't believe David was self-transcendent. I miss him the worst. He was kind of like a father/big brother - he taught philosophy at L.S.U. and didn't get tenure because he was gay and wrote love poems to beautiful boys who complained, I guess, not being gay? Or maybe the others complained. Who knows. It's Baton Rouge, for goodness' sake, who ever heard of an uncloseted gay professor with tenure in a place like Baton Rouge?

You rambled magnificently.

I would imagine that Being - being Connected, turned on All Over All At Once Forever Right Now (and this from a guy who merely read about acid!!) would transcend beauty and be Like Cosmic.

George Orwell tells the story in Homage to Catalonia of anarchists taking fascists in early morning to the sea-girt coast. As they stood on the cliffs and watched the sun rise, the anarchists would say to the fascists "See, it could have been so beautiful!" And then they shot them.
