People are patriots when they love their country and wish to make it better- because opinions differ on just HOW to make it better, there will be many different kinds of patriots. It seems entirely logical that one patriot could ridicule another- it happened during Vietnam all the time. The men that went to war were patriots and many of the people who protested the war were also patriots- it isn't an either or situation- but then it takes some degree of sophistication to recognize that- as I am sure you would agree. Sophistication and an appreciation for life's nuances are lacking from many of the posts on this thread (not yours of course).

It's a question which would generate hundreds of acrominous posts, and not one that particularly interests me since it isn't one that we are likely to reach any agreement about or learn anything important by discussing.
