Bill,

Sorry, even the legal definition states that she comitted treason. The climate of the day is what saved her from prosicution, not that she did not legally commit treason:

Under 18 USC 2381
: [Title 18, United States Code, Section 2381],
: "Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States,
: wages war against them or adheres to their
: enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the
: United States or elsewhere,
is guilty of treason
: and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not
: less than five years. . ."

Her radio spots to the US Soldiers in South Vietnam, as well as the TV and newspaper propaganda she provided in Hanoi's behalf against US policy, definately falls under the definition as stated in the US Constitution.......

wb (not mad, but won't stand for distortions)

Bill,

I would be interested in knowing if you were aware of Fonda's actions while you were in VN and if/when/why your thoughts changed.

As I ask that question, it would only be fair to remember my own actions. I too joined the guard, and did not go to VN. I remember the RA guys giving us fits in basic and advanced training, and they had a name for us(which I cannot remember) but what I DO remember was at the end of Advanced training, when the DI was announcing names with next destinations the RA guys were not calling us names at all and most of them were headed right for VN. It was a very reserved time.

With that in mind, did you guys in VN have thoughts about the NG? or was it later?

thanks

dan
