Ed,
Great post! I can't stop grinning. You're wasting your talents; your writing would elevate the level of humor coming out of Hollywood-so go to it- a satirical movie based on the CNBC cast of characters. But it's not just CNBC; we had 2 days of high temperatures here in New York and the TV reporters went at it as if the nuclear holocaust had arrived- complete with breathless advice that people should drink plenty of water- or else. Are people such numbskulls that they have to be reminded to have a glass of water when they're sweating a lot? Apparently the TV guys think so. So keep it up- and stay with AOL!
Best regards,
Steve

Voltaire,

Do like I did, throw your TV through the window, give up your cable connection.

You will not misses it. For news, you can rely on the internet, for entertainment, you have threads like this. You will be surprised how much free time you will have, and feel sorry for all that waste of time before that stupid screen.

TV is finished. Internet is the new medium.

Greetings,

Bert

I promised to myself that I was not going to post anymore until AOL reached 150 (my long position), but I could hardly contain when I saw your post.

AMEN at Voltaire's discretion!! Though I DON'T HAVE OR WANT CABLE TV am in full agreement with absolutely everything in your post. It's in accord with what others who say the same things as you have said in their own ways, have said. It's hard not to notice that the show you mention is The One that gets folks the most riled up. Fuggeddaboudit.
As a longtime member of NO CABLE TV CONTROL GROUP #9B(Internetaholics
who either listen to their favorite music or turn all electronic sound off while thinking about Stocks When Online)-(subgroup B: Successful Investors Who Stay Calmer Because They Don't Listen To The Business Squawk On Cable) I'm guessing that my right to comment about outrageous stock shows on cable tv by collection of matching hearsay accords are as good as anyone else's under my First Amendment Rights! So am hoping my AMEN From Hearsay Only is as OK by you as it was in the Highest Courts awhile back when hearsay comments about the President were being compared & evaluated for a conclusion.
BTW, read your great post 3X and 3X ROFL! Going for the 4 right now.

Hi gang...had to do some heavy backtracking to catch the whole
CNBC saga...

Very entertaining reading. I guess anyone who has watched this show even once can relate! Personally I find Joe Kernan absolutely excruciating. He always seems like he just rolled out of bed with a hangover and doesn't know where he is, as he fumbles for the aspirin bottle. I find it unbelievable that at one time he was going to have his own IPO!

Ek, like I said earlier, Voltaire watches Cnbc too much.
I personally like to watch Jeopordy. I admire the brain retention the contestants have, and My Gal beats me almost every time, and all I have to do is just a little research, pick out the next new hot Internet IPO. Beg and plead with the sluts (underwriters) that are bringing those out. Throw a hundred grand (Dart) at them and come out with another $million.
How much longer can go on in this new economy is uncertain, but until it ends, I'm loving it.
On monday I fly back to Seattle in our Lear jet.If we can find a place to leave it.
That's a dilemma.
Trust me on that.

Actually, I think these CNBC clowns represent the trading establishment pretty much, which is why I watch. Amatuers like us can beat their butt everytime (up 85% this year) but it helps to play off their idiocy. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Voltaire,

I am not pro or con CNBC but I am against the use of insults just for the sake of using them. If you have a complaint with CNBC, write to them or make a post in a professional manner showing you have a decent command of the english language. I am appalled that many on this thread thought your post was 'good." It is an insult to me that I am a part of SI and admittedly, I do not post a lot on the AOL thread. Your style and those that approve of it, is the main reason.

Voltaire and all other LTI' s it is about time to learn to read financial statements importance of free cashflow as related to real interest rates fair valuation.

It is about time that this speculative bubble end and people realize that a company must turn a profit, that PV or earnings are great only on paper if there are any earnings,P/E should have a meaning and stock valuation do not go to the sky.

For all those buying stocks irresponsibly just because they are hype, go up or corporate management "adjust, restates, or what ever" plays with the earnings, well, they deserve to be punished by reality and I will compliment them if all heir savings go down the drain. As they will learn a lesson about risk.

The positive part will be that all those LTI's will end up working harder in the real economy not the smoke and dreams of Internet fantasy.
