And what's scary about that verdict, Alan, was that the driver of the car that hit the GM truck which exploded was legally intoxicated (that's right, DWI in action) and was travelling at something like 75-80 mph.

I am also worried about the case, and the fact that the Jury is asking to have testimony from the Bristol witness read back to them makes me just plain nervous.

Not so sure the deep pockets thing will apply here. Nobody got burned horribly. No kids involved. No internal memos showing the ugly Cost Benefit Analysis. Actually, the rich aren't the most hated in America. Not even close. They are the most envied, and much of the talk that sounds negative about them is merely jealousy. That's why pollsters and social scientists can never really figure out why most of your average joe's favor moderate Republican-ish (eg. most of Clinton's) economic policies. Yes, there is major bitching about large corporations, but I just don't think that the public sees Microsoft as harming them economically. Sales and revenues point to just the opposite... No consumer backlash in sight. just MHO

Money wise we're not talking much for this lawsuit ($260M), BUT if this lawsuit is won by Bristol it will be the first case where Microsoft would be convicted of using "monopoly-like" powers.

A Bristol win could be what other companies are waiting for before making similar claims ... and this could also negatively influence the DOJ's October decision ?
