I admit Chucks appraisal may be a bit blunt but, consider this. 361 people were killed in small plane crashes in 1998. Do you know their names? What scope of search/rescue were used? What media coverage did they receive? Were their lives any more trivial than anyone elses? Will their families grieve any less? Will their absence on this earth mean any less than anyone elses?

I regret the tragedy of such a death regardless of who the victim is. My point is, what contribution to the scheme of things did JFK jr. make.
Let's see, he performed a well rehearsed salute to his father's casquet, he did a short stint as an asst. DA, he married a socialite, and he started a magazine which is doing poorly on the market. Are people still putting stock in the myth dubbed Camelot by the media? Camelot never existed people!!! Not in the old legend and not in the '60s. It was all smoke and mirrors. It took the mafia to swing the Illinois vote and get JFK elected, his marriage was rife with extra marital affairs, and he came to a tragic end without getting one piece of his proposed legislation passed by congress. Are good looks and charisma all it takes to become an idol? If so, this country is on its way down the tubes. TD

C Kahn, That was not my initial reaction. As I thought about it I became angry about it. I too am a foolish arrogant Mick who doesn't listen to anybody. People have gotten hurt because of that. I just wish he hadna flown that night. FWIW, this was my first reaction:

"He got killed because he was a foolish arrogant Mick who never listened to anybody." And He was a rich kid by way of his Mother ripping off that old ugly Greek that she had married and his rum running grandfather. He is also guilty of killing his wife and sister-in-law because he was incompetent as a pilot to take passengers.
I, for one am sick of hearing about those "Stinking Kennedys"

The Kennedys have long made it clear that they believe that the laws that apply to ordinary mortals have nothing to do with them.

Apparently they include the laws of physics among those laws.

Arrogance is their middle name.
