<The information I have is that Coppermine will fully match the K7 in integer and pull to within a few % on FP (3-4% maybe)>

How much of the performance improvement is due to DRDRAM and how much is due to L2? I assume that CuMine FPU is the same as in PIII.

Kap.

Elmer,

The information I have is that Coppermine will fully match the K7 in integer and pull to within a few % on FP (3-4% maybe).

You have been posting "inside information" for the past 6 months that K7 performance is poor.

Elmer...

Most important specs as established by Intel...

1. MHz lead, scalability.
2. FPU
10...down the line somewhere...integer.

So here's the rub...
1. Which chip will scale better, P-III or K7? Who will be able to maintain the MHz lead? Which design is old and relying on smoke and mirrors to eek out a few more MHz?
2. The FPU of the Athlon is much stronger than the P6.
10. Integer will be a closer race. K7 still winning.
But Intel has already poopooed this spec...to combat Cyrix mainly.

Intels' guns aren't so big any more.
