The Tongo Fields concession will not be mined before security is assured, that goes without saying. As well it was stated several times on this thread that it wouldnt happen before Nov, due to the rainey season. I think investors who put up 13mil have some insight to the direction of the company even though the Canadian brokers dont.
I would also call your attention to the fact that money makes the juniors go around. No money, no drilling, no money, no growth, no money, no interest.
13Mil in PP tells even the uniformed idiot that where there is smoke there may be fire. Thus far the embers are smoltering, and Rex will not release information until they are convinced of a major find. Someone once told me that you cant "explore with a stopwatch". A craton the size of NY State leaves a lot of area to cover.
If the naysayers want to continually harp on the negatives, why dont they form their own thread, and call it the "PussyCat Pasture"
Regards
George
Oh BTW Bob, please note the significance of the Ashton Mining press release, looks like the Ashton may have some difficulty reaching their expansion targets. That may favor the supply demand, and sentiment to the over or undersupply equation.

Bob, could you expand on and/or back up your statement here? -
"DMW did some bad things to the Rebels and are not favoured to return to Sierra Leone IMO."

This is contrary to my general impression to date that Diamondworks has acted in as politically astute and reasonable a fashion as was possible in such a chaotic situation as Sierra Leone has been experiencing. So you can understand my interest.

As for the maintenance/return/whatever of existing concessions - Clearly the RUF wants a cut of the take. They're tired of war, that's why they signed the peace agreement. Now they want to make some money, and it looks like the mining section of the Lome Accord is worded to that end.

They can do this in alluvial deposits, where the start-up costs are low.
But they lack the capital and expertise to develop kimberlites such as Koidu, imho.
So I see a probability that dmw loses some alluvial rights, and keeps Koidu, at least.
Same with rxd and Tongo.

Remember what Holemans said - #reply-10375548 -
"We are not interested in the small alluvial diggings, but in the Tongo Fields underground reserves and in the undeveloped Zimmi Fields."

I see a parallel here with dmw and Koidu, where they have made a significant investment in the past, where they have imho done everything possible to maintain a healthy relationship with locals, and where they are ready before anyone else to resume operations which would generate profits in which the RUF could work out their percentage of the take with the government. In-country work and travel is still difficult due to both the relative anarchy and the weather, but it seems to me reasonable to expect that negotiations have been and are taking place. I am a little surprised that dmw hasn't made any statements in re SL [there was a single 'looking forward' sentence on Koidu in their 2Q99 notes], but i am not prepared at this point to write off Koidu - or all of the many alluvial properties, even.

And it's quite premature to write off rxd's Tongo, as well, imho.
In preceding posts, both Holemans' and the RUF spokesman's statements can be factual - there will be many within the RUF jockeying for position in the new power structure. Chaos is often such a poorly organised effort. Try going to a local government council meeting - i've been to a few lately, and i'm convinced they're all some weird moronic breed of cannibalistic chickens with wolf complexes and an odour reminiscent of Rodentia ... and that's on the left coast of The Great White North.

No - I say Rex mines Tongo, and Diamondworks mines Koidu. Early next year.
