Christine, many of the Union of Concerned Scientists members are warmed over fossils and second-rate lab technicians. This is the same organization that was wringing their collective hands in anguish about the "impending" Global Freezing 30 years ago.

Christine, I don't know if the earth is getting warmer but I do feel comfortable with the idea that we can't do jack about it, one way or the other. We CAN spend (waste) enormous wealth to bring the U.S. back in line with standards of living found in less advanced parts of the world while putting new groups in position to regulate our lives. I'm against that. The Union of Concerned Scientists is not a scientific organization -- it is a political organization. Can't say for sure but wasn't the report you mentioned discredited due to major alterations AFTER being signed? I'll check tomorrow. They have opposed nearly every penny spent on defense in this country for years (except maybe day care centers on bases, or something). They have long advocated disarmament on any terms. I do not agree with them, I do not trust them and I do not like them.
