I'd like to check....this is a thread devoted to MSFT, right?

Nominally. In reality this thread, like all other unmoderated forums of discussion, is about whatever the participants want to discuss.

Ain't America great?

OT Chaz, you are right. This thread is under seige by JFD and others who simply want to vent their frustrations and see this arena as an easy way. Let's rid ourselves of this mean-spiritied undertone conversation.

chaz, you'd like a pure and unadulterated love-in … la the Dell thread? I generally agree with you, but when stocks come up as a topic around the break room or water cooler, other topics do tend to creep in. OK:

Has Microsoft reached a bottom?

When does Win 2000 come out?

When's the trial over?

Is Microsoft going to get off their a** and bring up Win 2000 on Merced? Unix and Solaris czars look to get it done first.

Is quality really job 1 on Win 2000? (Ballmer said).

Why is Intel predicting a very strong 2H99, while Microsoft is crying wolf again?

Now keep that other sh** outa here!

Tony

This thread does seem to diverge into politics fairly often, probably because of the DOJ case, which arouses ire and blame in different quarters. However, as for the discussions of daytrading, shorting rallies, etc, I find that very useful. Some of the thread members are very comfortable with each other and use this as a forum to exchange that information as well, and I have learned from it.

Sometimes there isn't a lot to say about MSFT: it's a behemoth, it will stand strong under various kinds of fire, it hasn't rallied as we'd like to see it but it's a longterm hold for most of us here.

OT: Gentlemen and Ladies, This is my first post here, after joining the thread roughly 2,000 posts ago. I'd like to check....this is a thread devoted to MSFT, right? Between guns, options, carville, intc, AG, Bill and Melinda, aol and amzn, and a whole bunch of other stuff, I'm not sure.

I agree on the guns and carville. The other topics are all related to investing. I realize there are other threads for AMZN and AOL but i don't mind these posts ( i admit that i started some of the OT stuff). I guess an OT on these topics is reasonable solution. As far as options, AG, and Bill Gates (without going too far on the subject)--these are not OT if they are somehow connected to MSFT investing or even just the market moves.

In conclusion, investing ideas in other areas should be acceptable on the MSFT thread---with an OT. This is just my opinion.

BTW--Welcome to the MSFT thread.

Off topic ... Thread topic.

I've managed to get off topic at times, so I'll take some blame here. I've read all the posts on this thread (yes, ALL, over 20,000) and although it strays from time to time, the straying usually comes at a slow news time and rarely last longer than a few days.
Invariably, a Microsoft 'event' snaps the discussion back on topic where it stays until things get 'quiet' again.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. Try the DELL thread. Over there, a post about Dell needs labeling as 'Off Topic.'

P.P.S. Ever hear the saying "Never sell a dull market?" The 'off topic indicator' is a somewhat reliable buy signal.
