To all,
The Multi-Point Fuel injection System doesn't sound like the Sparrow to me! Is the India deal still alive or has it died?
The "Zen" was one of the cars that AFS was to convert..What happened?

MARUTI ZEN TO SPORT A NEW LOOK

Nayee Dillee, August 5, 1999 (UNI, The Hindu) - In
another bid to stave off competition from Santro,
Matiz, and Indica, Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL) is all
set to roll out a new-look version of its popular 'Zen'
and also a Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPFI) version of
the car by August- end. The vehicles have already been
manufactured and road-tested and would hit the city
streets by the next month, company sources told UNI
today. Though a final decision on the price tag of the
vehicles is yet to be arrived at, sources pointed out
that the new-look Zen would put a cost pressure of Rs.
10,000 to Rs. 20,000 per vehicle on the company.
Besides, preparation of the MPFI version would cost an
additional Rs. 25,000-30,000 per vehicle. ''But we are
yet to decide on how much of this is to be passed on to
the customers,'' the sources added.
