I agree with you on the long term for WCOM.
The boys at Qwest are pretty slick with their new offer to give you the internet for free, don't you think?
I went to their web page to look at the deal and the offer is really geared towards the bigger users of long distance. I presently use Qwest 8.9 cent per minute anytime plan and have a local ISP. The little kicker in their new plan to charge you $14.95 for the internet service in each month you don't spend $50.00 for long distance is pretty well disquised. For people like me that use about 5 hours of long distance per month it means I don't save anything over my current plan. The problem is I am probably representative of a large percentage of residential phone users, But one of the few that will read the fine print.

Read it for yourself on their sign up page.

I thought others might be interested. It would be interesting if someone with a knowledge of how many hours of long distance the average customer uses per month could comment on their plan as to how atypical my findings are in on a broader basis.
