Charles Hennessey, my in-laws live in Harwinton, CT. Closer to Hartford, but very much "Out in the sticks". They bought an old farm house, (Over 200 years old), and are restoring it. It's been more than 2 years now, and they are pretty sure it will be registered as an "Historic home".(I'm not sure if this is the correct name for it).

It's funny that you mentioned Amherst, Massachusetts. I used to live there! For a few years I actually lived in Shutesbury, Mass., a few miles outside Amherst. But had to drive to town for work. It was beautiful in every season but winter, which lasted more than half of the year. And it was a very rude awakening to drive on ice-covered, steep roads, to work every day, for a southern California raised girl. I'm in Florida now, which seems to be more like southern. Calif. than any other place I've landed in my life. Born in Portland, Ore., also lived in Queens New York, for a while. I guess you could say I've had a pretty good sampling of our country. C Kahn
