Hi Rick,

Very nice to have a conversation with you and it does not degrade into an irrational argument/fight. I am always pleasantly surprised.

Anyways, I agree they are both great companies. I probably mis-communicated my point when I used the Intel comparison. Intel did replace the processor for free... this does not mean I think WorldCom necessarily owes free service, although I would not rule it out for the period the network was down. My point is Intel brought the issue out by issuing press releases and responding openly to questions and concerns. The processor is an example and result of Intel responding publicly.

I don't see WorldCom doing this, and this is what makes me mistrustful. AT&T set an example for appropriate corporate PR when their network went down. The CEO (I think) spoke publicly about the outage and promoted a forum for dialogue. Without that for this serious an outage, WCOM I will continue to see them as lacking PR savvy.

I hope I made better sense now.

The point is that Intel took a long time to own up according to you...WCOM apparently suffered the same misjudgement in your view as well.

Who cares. Both companies are stellar outfits that have slipped up from time to time but have rebounded quite nicely BECAUSE they partially control
future technologies that the world MUST have. Yes WCOM has a different competitive environment than Intel, but they do have the best internet
communication network system in the world. Customers understand that.

What did you want WCOM to do, give a year's free service to those who were lost for a week? Customers who let their emotions control their judgements
will fail anyway. If they want to get back at WCOM and drop them, fine...but I have a feeling world class companies are more concerned with the bottom
line than the emotional outbursts exhibited by the Chicago Board of Exchange weenie.
