Putting aside the cocaine issue for the moment, I would like to re-focus on the issue of whether GWB is the best candidate.

My take is he simply lacks the experience, and hasn't been tested under the strenuous conditions a President might face. The best candidate is McCain, but his refusal to pander to special interests plus the fact that he hails from a low-profile state hinders his fund-raising efforts. These would be the unbeatable tickets: McCain/Dole (brings in women voters) or McCain/Pataki (brings in New York) or McCain/Abplanalp (guarantees California).

I think Republicans have been too quick to select a front-runner.

Leno on Bush:

"George Bush has given a half a dozen
different answers today to this story," Jay Leno said Thursday
night. "First, he said that hadn't done drugs in the past 15 years.
Then, later, he changed that. He said, no, no, he hadn't done
drugs in the past 25 years. Then, really, just like an hour ago,
what he really meant to say was, he hadn't done drugs since he
was 28. And then, finally, he admitted, he said, 'Look, I'm so
high, I don't know what the hell I'm saying.'"

<<GWB decided that he would not answer the cocaine questions. What facts and past
deeds could have prevented him from telling the truth?>>It does seem strange that he would create such an issue by refusing to answer.I suspect that there is somebody out there who he is afraid might spill the beans. Still makes no sense.....When the fat hits the fan what's he gonna say? "Well... I never said one way or another?"
<<As I said before, what we know so far might just be the tip of the iceberg.>> The press will do a lot of digging ..... I think this is the beginning of the end for him.
