There could be several reasons. Both of the local theaters where I live chose not to run it because they had a full list of movies that were still bringing in good money. Some of these theaters may pick it up next weekend, and if it has legs others might the weekend after that.

I have no facts whatsoever on that point, but my better sense suggests that the distributors wanted to see if there was a market for JCVD. If that was indeed the reason, then logic suggests that future movies should receive full distribution. I guess we will see when the next movie hits the street. BTW, if we pulled 4.7M on 1600 screens, then on 2600 screens we should have pulled 7.6M. Where would that have put us in the rankings this past weekend? I still think that the bar scene cost us by making it an R rating. As a PG or a PG-13, we would have had much larger attendance from the teen bunch!
