Totally useless question but:

Smith Barney recently said this about Zoran:

"we believe that Zoran, the nearest things to a DVD pure play"
and
"that although Zoran traded at a "rich valuation" of 70.4 times his 1999 estimate earnings, the share had upside because of strong growth prospects and even steeper valuations for peers."

Pardon me? The rich valuation on Zoran is warranted because the valuation of it's peers is steeper?

Anybody know which peers this "person" was referring to?

CUBE? P/E 24.74
ESS? P/E 32.19
STM? P/E 47.62
LSI? Yahoo sez: "P/E N/A" Earnings per share -1.27
MPEG? P/E (divide by Zero error)

ZRAN P/E 129.89

The way I see it is the valuations of all the "peers" need to go UP or Zorans valuation needs to go down.

I wish CUBE would hurry-up and go down to $22. I'm just not comfortable being short in the company I love so much but..(just kidding).

Cisco in $7.4 billion buying spree

...
Cerent's equipment helps networks handle all kinds of traffic (voice, video, data) and to bridge incompatible information-transmission standards. Cisco aims to market the products to big phone carriers as a way to migrate to new packet-switched, fiber-optic networks designed for the Internet from traditional circuit-switched, copper-wire networks originally geared for voice usage.

That segment of the industry is becoming the main battleground of telecom equipment makers as they bid to become the leading all-purpose suppliers to Internet, computer and phone companies alike.
