Could they offer a choice? RDAM or PC133?

Re: Do you really think that Dell and Compaq are going to say "Well, I was going to put RDRAM in my high end systems instead of PC-100, but now that PC-133 is here, I'll use that instead"?

Windows 2000 is going to want 256 meg of RAM to be really happy, 128 meg to do much more than boot. And Microsoft will be charging more for the software. As long as Rambus stays more expensive than alternatives, my answer is: Yes, I think Dell and Compaq will offer PC-133 and DDR. This is a very cost competitive business, and these companies must follow the market.

Tell me which of two otherwise identical computers you'd buy, one with 128 meg of Rambus, or one with 256 meg of DDR?
Both from dell, both with the same processor, disk, etc. Both at the same price. Be honest with yourself.
