X, my guess is that the reference was to your objection, made some weeks ago, to what you saw as an effort to classify everybody in neat "little boxes." So the question would be, "are you singing that 'little boxes' song again?" The "ticky-tacky" is a poetic flourish, IMO.

Sorry X, I didn't see the point either but shoot the messenger if it will make you feel better. I got a bad haircut and a gut ache so killing would be a blessing.

That's the only recording about ticky tacky and boxes I could recall.

<<Now THAT'S an insult.>>

You want to borrow my Garand? 30-06, many stripper clips, semi auto.

Little boxes, on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
And they all look just the same.

I can't remember who sang that, they were a very earnest folk group, the men all had facial hair and the women probably had leg hair and armpit hair. They were from the "If you want to fight oppression, you gotta SING LOUD" school. You may be too young to remember that movement, but Michael M. isn't.

I think it's a slur, he's suggesting that you're a fellow-traveller to the Socialists.

EDIT:
LITTLE BOXES
The Womenfolk

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Little boxes on the hillside,
little boxes made of ticky-tacky.
Little boxes on the hillside,
little boxes all the same.

There's a green one, and a pink one,
and a blue one, and a yellow one.
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky,
and they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses,
all went to the university
Where they were put in boxes,
and they came out all the same.

And there's doctors and there's lawyers,
and business executives
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky,
and they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course,
and drink their martinis dry
And they all have pretty children,
and the children go to school
And the children go to summer camp,
and then to the university
Where they're all put in boxes,
and they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business,
and marry and raise a family.
In boxes made of ticky-tacky,
and they all look just the same.

This is the shortest song to make it to the top ten on the singles charts. It is also amusing social commentary.
You can download the actual song. lttlboxs.zip (475k, .wav)

In search of "Little Boxes," I found this interesting "oral" history of Levittown, generally acknowledged to be the inspiration for the "Little Boxes" song.
