KJ, Brocade announced a similar, aggressive press release, with both Ancor and Brocade announcing that they are the "leading . . ." then they diverge. Can you detect a technical difference between the wording of the press releases, particularly Ancor's use of the term "fabric", which is not included in Brocade's nearly identical release regarding Novell.

It appears that it is not just Clarion that is supporting at least two switch vendors.

I look forward to hearing from you

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, guys, but there is no deal in this "deal." Ancor's switches will do Novell NCS, same as ZOOX & BRCD, that's all. Novell's Internet Caching product and server alliances are aimed more at Inktomi than Sun. Their NCS is a direct shot at MSFT vaporware 2000 though.

ADIC is the real deal, a solid counter punch to STK/BRCD. Plus, customers can go direct fibre-fibre instead of bridging SCSI. The last price I saw for a Crossroads bridge was $5000.

All IMHO,

Douglas
